SOP 219: How to Link Merchant Center with Google Ads Account

Goal
To link your Google Merchant Center to your Google Ads account.
Ideal Outcome
You successfully link your Google Merchant Center to your Google Ads account.
Prerequisites or requirements

You will need a Google Merchant Center and a Google Ads account. To set up a Google Merchant Center, refer to SOP 213 (web version) on how to set up Google Merchant Center. If you do not have a Google Ads account, go through SOP 014 (web version): Creating a Google Ads account.

Linking up your Google Merchant Center account to Google Ads is advantageous for your business. You will be able to utilize retail-centric Google Ads campaign tools and the data-centric power of Merchant Center to improve your presence on the web.

Request link to Google Ads in Merchant Center

  1. Go to Google Merchant Center here and click “Sign In”.


2. Choose a Gmail account and log in with your password. Click “Next”.

3. To link to your own Google Ads account, click the setting menu icon [Gear] and click “Apps”.

4. Under Google apps, click “Add Google Ads”.

5. Next, you should be able to see your Google Ads customer ID (if you have used the same Gmail to set up both of the accounts). Select “Link to your Google Ads account” followed by “Link account”.


6.Click “Link account” the second time to agree and share data between these accounts:

7. To link to other Google Ads accounts, click “Link to a Google Ads account that you don’t manage” and enter the Google Ads customer ID. Hit “Send link request”.

8. You can find the ID number next to the notification icon in Google Ads.

  1. Sign in to your Google Ads account here . Click “Sign in”.

2. Click the “Admin” button or the [gear] icon and select “Linked accounts”.

3. Next, click “Manage & link” under Google Merchant Center. By now, you should be able to see “1 received”:

4. Click the “Received” tab and then “Review”:


5. Click “Approve” to agree and share the data between these accounts and that’s it!

How to cancel a link request In Merchant Center

  1. In your Merchant Center account, click the setting menu icon [Gear] and click “Apps”.

2. Under “Google apps”, choose the app that you would like to delete and hit “Delete connection”.

3. Finally, click “Delete” to cancel the connection.
