SOP 209: How to Onboard a client for Google Business Profile

Goal: To understand the client’s business requirements for the project and get access to the client's Google Business Profile.

Ideal Outcome:  You and your team have access to resources and information needed to run the Google Business Profile for your client.

Prerequisites or requirements:

You should have access to a verified Google Business Profile account. If you don’t have one, please follow SOP 100 (web version): Set up a new Google Business Profile account.

Why this is important: Ensure clients’ needs and concerns are addressed before running their Google Business Profile.

Where this is done: Google Business Profile and Google Drive.

When this is done: After a signed contract from the client is established.

Who does this: The marketing or account manager for the project.

Environment Setup

  1. Download this Google Business Profile Client Onboarding Folder . Copy and upload it to your own Google drive folder. This folder includes a Word document of the client onboarding questionnaire and creatives from the client folder to onboard your client.
Once you’ve uploaded the folder, share the folder access with your client.
2. Click on the downward arrow beside the folder name. Make sure you are in the correct folder. Press “Get link” from the drop-down.

3. Go to “General access” and change access to “Anyone with the link”. Make sure to click “Editor” for your client to organize, add, and edit files in the folder. Copy the shared link by clicking on the “Copy link” at the bottom of the pop-up.
