Crowds Move When They Feel Something

Every feed is a packed stadium, and your post gets about as long as a glance at the big screen. Most get scrolled past. The posts that make people feel something get passed down the row. We run your social program end to end, from the audit and strategy to the calendar, the posts and the paid plan, and we build every post to be passed on.

Pipeline From Social Not follower counts.

The buyer's mind

What Makes A Crowd Move

Nobody scrolls alone. Every feed is packed with other people's reactions, and what the crowd does shapes what each person does next. Here's the research we build on.

  • Big Feelings Get Passed On

High-arousal emotion and sharing · Berger and Milkman, 2012

Across 3 months of New York Times articles, stories that stirred awe were more likely to make the most emailed list, and in the lab, readers were more willing to share the funnier version of the same story. Sad stories got shared less. So we aim for awe and a laugh. Anger and anxiety spread too, and we leave them out on purpose.

  • Join The Wave

The bandwagon effect · Leibenstein, 1950

Economist Harvey Leibenstein described how people want something more once others have it, partly to fit in with the people they'd like to be associated with. Think of a stadium wave: you stand because the section beside you just did. So we build posts with an easy way in, a question worth answering or a format worth copying, and every person who joins makes it easier for the next.

  • Stars Can Fumble

The pratfall effect · Aronson, Willerman and Floyd, 1966

In the original experiment, students rated a highly capable quiz contestant as more likable after he spilled coffee on himself. The same spill made an average contestant less likable. So we prove your expertise first, then let the crowd see the human side: the behind-the-scenes, the honest miss, the team laughing at itself.

The machine's mind

The Feed Wants The Crowd Talking

The people who build feeds have said, in writing, what they reward. In 2018, Facebook said it would rank posts higher when they spark back-and-forth between people, and warned that Pages whose posts people don't react to or comment on could see the biggest drops. LinkedIn put it plainly in 2019: the more valuable the conversation, the higher a post sits in your feed. A feed works like the stadium's big screen: it scans the stands for a real reaction and puts it up for everyone. So we write posts that give the crowd something to say to each other.

  • Facebook

Said in 2018 it would rank posts higher when people are likely to discuss them with friends, so every post carries something worth answering.

  • Instagram

In Feed, it predicts whether you'll linger on a post, comment, like, share it or tap the profile photo, so we build posts to earn more than a like.

  • LinkedIn

Its engineers taught the feed to predict who will scroll past a post, so the opening line has to earn the rest.

The indirect play

Why We Never Ask The Crowd To Cheer

Stadium screens beg for noise all game long. On a feed, begging backfires. Facebook announced in 2017 that it would demote engagement bait, posts that goad people into liking, sharing or commenting, and Meta still lists engagement bait among the content it shows less. The same announcement spared posts that ask for help, advice or recommendations. So our posts never beg for the like. When we want the crowd talking, we ask for its advice.

Make Some Noise Which One? Begging Asking

Beg a crowd for noise and you get a polite clap. Ask what it thinks and you get a conversation.

The playbook

From A Quiet Feed To The Wave

  1. Take A Headcount

Who's in your crowd today, which posts got them talking, and who you want in the seats instead.

  2. Pick Your Sections

The platforms your buyers actually fill, and the feelings worth spreading there.

  3. Write The Chant

A calendar built on the few ideas you want the crowd repeating, with every post written to match.

  4. Start The Wave

The posts go out with your ads, search and content pulling the same way, and paid social puts money behind the posts the crowd already likes.

  5. Listen To The Stands

What moves the crowd gets more room on the calendar. What gets silence gets cut.

The scoreboard

Crowd Noise Isn't The Score

Likes are noise from the stands. We keep score on the fans who turn into pipeline.

  • Pipeline From Social

Leads and deals that started with a post, a profile visit or a social ad.

  • Conversations Started

Posts that get people answering each other in the comments, not just leaving a like.

  • Shares And Sends

How often people pass your posts along. It's the closest thing a feed has to a standing ovation.

  • Reach Past Your Followers

How many people the feed carried you to who don't follow you yet.

  • Jeremy Wayne Howell Leads The Cheer

Your day-to-day contact, keeping the calendar on time and every draft in front of you before it goes out.

Questions

Fair Questions, Straight Answers

Is It Worth Paying Someone To Run Our Social Media?

It is if social is judged on what it brings in, whether you hire someone or bring in a social media marketing agency like us. Doing it well takes a steady calendar, a sharp read of your buyers and someone watching what works, which is hard to keep up beside everything else your team does. If social is a box you check, keep your money. If you want buyers from it, run it properly.

Which Platforms Should We Be On?

Every platform your buyers use, planned together. We run Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, Reddit and YouTube, and the audit shows where your buyers gather. 1 channel run on its own gets lost in the sea of sameness, so we plan social with your ads, search and content, and every channel makes the others work harder.

Does Our Follower Count Matter?

Less than you might expect. TikTok says follower count isn't a direct factor in what it recommends, and Instagram says most of what people see in Reels comes from accounts they don't follow. Followers help, but every post still has to earn its own reach, so we judge posts on the conversations, shares and buyers they bring in.

Will The Posts Sound Like Us?

Yes. We learn your voice from your best posts and from the people who know your customers, then write in it. Nothing goes out until you've approved it, unless you'd rather unleash us.

Do You Run Paid Social Too?

Yes, and never on its own. We plan paid and organic together with the rest of your marketing, so ad money goes behind posts people have already shown they like. We run paid social on Meta, LinkedIn and Reddit.
